Some Windows 10 users may face the "Missing Network Adapter" issue, preventing internet connection. This article offers effective methods to fix the issue and restore connectivity.
Outdated or corrupted drivers are common causes of a missing network adapter. Checking and updating the drivers can effectively resolve many network adapter issues. It is recommended to use Driver Talent to automatically detect and update drivers, saving time and avoiding the risk of downloading or installing incorrect drivers.
Click the download button to get the latest version of Driver Talent. After installation, open the software and click "Scan".
After scanning, it will show which drivers are missing or need updating. Find the network adapter driver in the list and click the "Download" button.
Once the update is complete, it is recommended to restart your computer to ensure the updated drivers take effect.
Press Win + X and select "Device Manager".
In Device Manager, click "View", then choose "Show hidden devices".
Expand the "Network Adapters" category and check if the missing adapter is visible.
If found, right-click and choose "Enable device", or try updating the driver.
Press Win + S, type "Command Prompt", and choose "Run as Administrator".
In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter: netsh winsock reset
After running the command, restart your computer and check if the network adapter has been restored.
Press Win + X and select "Device Manager".
Expand the "Network Adapters" category, right-click on your network adapter, and select "Properties".
In the "Power Management" tab, ensure that the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.
If it is checked, uncheck it and click "OK" to save the settings.
Press Win + I to open "Settings".
Select "Network & Internet", then click "Status".
Scroll down and click "Network Reset".
In the pop-up window, click the "Reset Now" button.
Your computer will automatically restart and reinstall the network adapter. After rebooting, check if the network adapter has been restored.
Press Win + I to open "Settings", then select "Update & Security".
In the left-hand menu, select "Troubleshoot", then click "Additional troubleshooters".
Under "Network Adapter", click "Run the troubleshooter".
Follow the on-screen instructions, and Windows will automatically scan and fix network adapter issues.
