Windows 10 May 2019 Update (also known as Windows 10 version 1903) is on its way! This should be good news for Windows users who are looking forward to the arrival of the Windows 10 May 2019 Update. The update is now being rolled out gradually to the general public. Users who would like to install the latest release can take action right now.
Well, in order to avoid the same problem with Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809), Microsoft takes a measured and throttled approach to slowly roll out the feature update this time. And this post will show you how to download and install the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (version 1903). You can follow the instruction below to enjoy the updated features in this release.
Before installing this update, you'd better backup your important data and make sure your computer is connected to the Internet first. If you are ready to install the update, follow these steps:
Step 1. Type "Windows Update" in the search box and click on "Check for updates" in the search results to open the Windows Update page. Or you can navigate to the page by Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
Step 2. Once there, you will see an option to download and install Windows 10 May 2019 Update. If you don't see the option, click on the Check for updates button and restart your device when prompted.
Step 3. Select "Download and install now" once the update appears. The download begins.
Step 4. When the update is downloaded and ready to install, Windows will prompt you to restart your computer. Save your files and close all the windows you opened. Then select Restart now. If you are not ready to restart, select Schedule the restart and then pick a time to do it.
Once the install is completed, you will receive a confirmation message which says "Congratulations, you've just installed the newest feature update". It is done.
Note: You may not see the Download and install now option on your computer as this feature update is being rolled out successively. Please be patient.
If you can't wait to get the Windows 10 May 2019 Update, you can try to download and install it with the help of Windows 10 Update Assistant. Do as follows.
Step 1. Click here to navigate to the Update Assistant download page.
Step 2. Select Download tool now, and then click on the downloaded file to run it. Windows 10 Update Assistant will run a compatibility scan. (Note: You need to be an administrator to run this tool.)
Step 3. On the license terms page, select Accept if you accept the license terms.
Step 4. On the What do you want to do? page, select Upgrade this PC now, and then select Next.
Step 5. After downloading and installing, the tool will walk you through how to set up Windows 10 on your computer. All Windows 10 editions are available except for the Enterprise edition. Just follow the instruction.
Step 6. When the update is ready to install, you will see a recap of what you've chosen and what will be kept through the upgrade. Select Change what to keep to set whether you would like to Keep personal files and apps, Keep personal files only, or Keep nothing during the upgrade.
Step 7. If you are ready to install the update, save your files and close all the windows you opened. Then select Install.
It will take some time to install this feature update, and your computer will restart a few times. Please don't turn off your computer during this period.
