Updated Microsoft PowerToys brings new Always On Top feature and launcher web search

Recently, Microsoft has managed to update PowerToys to improve user experience. The newly released Microsoft PowerToys Version 0.53.1 comes with two main useful features, namely a new Always On Top feature and web search in the Run launcher, as well as a great number of bug fixes.

The Always On Top feature enables users to pin an app window to make it always on top of other apps even when they change focus to another app window. Users can activate Always On Top with the Win + Ctrl + T shortcut. Game fans may be very interested in its Game Mode toggle as it allows them to play games in full screen above pinned apps. Besides, Always On Top allows users to customize the visual outline of the pinned window. What’s more, it enable users to manually exclude apps form being pinned.

The second excellent functionality is web search in the Run launcher which looks quite similar to Spotlight in macOS. To open PowerToys Run, users just need to press Alt + Space and then type in the search bar, after which web searches will open in the default web browser. Users have to use the “??” command and then add the things they want to search.

A lot of bug fixes are also provided in this new Microsoft PowerToys (version 0.53.1). It is now available to download from the Microsoft Store and Microsoft’s PowerToys GitHub page.
