There are many possible causes for the “BOOTMGR is missing” error including missing operating system, corrupted system files and corrupted hard drive sectors. Method 1. Restart Your Computer
If you encounter the “BOOTMGR is missing” error, the first solution you can try is to restart your computer. Sometimes this method is useful to resolve the issue. If it doesn’t work, read on to try other methods below.
Method 2. Remove All the Connected Media
The “BOOTMGR is missing” error may occur if your computer tries to boot from a media which is non-bootable, such as a non-bootable hard drive, USB flash drive or floppy disk. To make sure the “BOOTMGR is missing” error on your computer is not caused by these non-bootable media, you’d better remove all of them and try to restart your computer.
Method 3. Set Your Bootable Hard Disk as the First Boot Device
If the “BOOTMGR is missing” error still exists after you remove all the connected media, you need to check the boot sequence in BIOS. Make sure that your bootable hard disk is set as the first boot device. Do like this:
Step 1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart your computer.
Step 2. When you see the logo of your computer, press to hold the F12 to get into the main interface of BIOS.
Note: The key to get into the main interface of BIOS varies from different computer brands and different Windows OS. It can be F2, F8, F10, F12, Esc or Del, etc. If you are not sure of that, please contact the manufacturer of your computer for help.

Step 3. Get to the Boot tab and check if your bootable hard disk is set as the first boot device. If no, use arrow keys to change the boot sequence and press F10 to save the change.
Then your computer will be restarted automatically. Check if the error is gone after the restart. If no, try other methods below.
Method 4. Run Startup Repair from Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)
To run Startup Repair from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), you need to have a Windows installation disc. Then take these steps:
Step 1. Insert the Windows installation disc into the disc drive and restart your computer.
Step 2. Press a key when the message which says “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD.” appears.
Step 3. Select your language, time and currency format, and keyboard or input method, and then click on the Next button.
Step 4. Click on Repair your computer.
Step 5. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
Then Windows will fix the issue automatically. After all is done, restart your computer to see whether the “BOOTMGR is missing” error is gone.
