Sea of Thieves has received a lot of praise from the majority of players since its official release in 2020. Its superior playing style, beautiful images, and original ideas are all worthy of the players' appreciation.
Whether you are an old pirate who has been riding the waves for a long time or a new player who is about to start the pirate journey, if you encounter game crash problems, the following are some useful fixes for you.
Index:
1. Checking your system requirements
2. Updating your graphics driver
3. Installing all Windows updates
To travel on a vast sea, pirate skills are not everything required. It also requires your computer hardware to meet the game requirement. If your computer doesn’t meet the minimum requirements, then game crashing will happen from time to time. Even if you can successfully launch the game, many small problems like FPS drop will constantly happen. So it’s fair to say the first thing that conquers the sea is never a sail but a computer meeting the requirement.
Here are the system requirements of Sea of Thieves:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel Q9450 @ 2.6GHz or AMD Phenom II X6 @ 3.3 GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 or AMD Radeon 7750
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 50 GB available space
RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS:
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel i5 4690 @ 3.5GHz or AMD FX-8150 @ 3.6 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 or AMD Radeon R9 380x
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 50 GB available space
If you’re sure your computer meets the game requirement, please move on to the next fix.

There are 2 types of updates included in Windows 10: feature updates and quality updates.
Among Windows updates, feature updates are technically new versions of the operating system that are released twice a year, in the spring and the fall. They are also referred to as "half-yearly" releases and are supported for 18 months. After the support cycle ends, you must upgrade to a supported version to continue to get security and non-security patches.
Feature updates typically include new features, visual improvements, and significant enhancements to improve the overall experience and security.
Quality updates can also appear as Cumulative Updates, Security Updates, or Windows 10 Updates. You can view the updates installed on your device at any time by going to Settings > Windows Update and clicking the View update history option.
Let’s take Windows 10 as an example:
Step 1. Back to the desktop of Win 10
Step 2. Press the “Windows logo” and the letter “I” at the same time to open “Windows Settings”. Then click "Update & Security".
Step 3. Click the “Check for updates” icon. Windows will automatically download and install any available updates. It may take you a while to wait for updates to finish.
Step 4. Restart your computer after you installed the updates.
To install all of the updates, you'll likely have to check many times. So, after clicking “Check for updates”, repeat the steps above until it says your system is “up to date”. Then you can try to launch Sea of Thieves and see if the crashing is solved.
